What’s in a name?

Traveling up to Scotland and back this week, we were astounded to see that Eddie Stobart cabs still have individual names. Surely they must have run out by now? But no, each one is still individual.

Over the 420 miles the conversation changed to things that had changed name. Remember Marathon bars, now Snickers and Opal Fruits, now Star Burst. Well as you can imagine the list went on.

And this brought me back to my blog a few weeks ago “Where have all the AS400 machines gone?”, where I discuss how AS400 (AS/400) machines have gone through the name changes of System i, iSeries and now IBM Blade Center.

TrustedLink iSeries (TLi) followed these name trademarks, and has been TrustedLink AS400, TrustedLink System i, but was originally EDI400 (EDI/400).

But this also reminded me that Inovis has gone through some name changes, from Premenos to Harbinger, through Peregrine and finally Inovis.

But whatever the name, a Marathon or Snickers, the chocolate still tastes the same
